This excursion is designed to give you a glimpse of the exotic "Spice Islands" of Zanzibar after your mainland Tanzania safari. Usually added at the conclusion of your safari itinerary, you will spend 2 days/1night in Stone Town to experience the vibrant Swahili culture by taking the city tour, spice tour and/or Prison Island tour (see Zanzibar Tours) before heading to the pristine beaches of the East Coast. While in the East Coast, you will stay at a five-star hotel for 4 days/3 nights and have the opportunity for rest and relaxation and engage in water sports (scuba-diving, water skiing, snorkeling and jet-skiing) should you choose to do so. |
Day 1 |
Arrival in Zanzibar
You are met at the airport by a Amani Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. Idyllically situated on the sea front, the Zanzibar Serena Inn is a haven of tranquility and opulence amongst the bustle of ancient Stone Town. Resting, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 |
Stone Town Tour
After breakfast, your tour guide will join you on a 3 hour tour of Stone Town, which will include visiting the local market, viewing historical buildings and walking the narrow streets of the city. In the afternoon, you will have lunch and an hour of rest before going on a 'Spice Tour' or a tour of Prison Island*, whichever you selected (see Zanzibar Tours for details). After your afternoon tour, you have time for a warm shower and dinner before heading to bed. Resting, dinner and overnight at Zanzibar Serena Inn.

Day 3 |
Transfer for Leisure Activities at Blue Bay
After breakfast, you will be on a 45 minute transfer by shuttle bus or van to your East Coast destination: Blue Bay Beach Resort & Spa, an intimate property on a beautiful white beach. Afternoon beach leisure. Relaxing, dinner and overnight at Resort.

Day 4 |
Second Day of Leisure Activities at Blue Bay
After breakfast, morning and afternoon beach leisure. Relax by the warm Indian Ocean on a broad sandy beach. Sign up for optional activities at your resort (not included in tour price); snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, beach BBQ, scuba diving, dhow day trips, or other. Relaxing, dinner and overnight at Resort.

Depart to Airport

This itinerary is intended to give you a full feel of the exotic "Spice Islands" of Zanzibar after your mainland Tanzania safari. Unlike the excursion, the Zanzibar Beach Holiday allows you to spend 4 nights in Stone Town so you may experience the vibrant Swahili culture by taking the city tour, spice tour and the Prison Island tour (see Zanzibar Tours) before heading to the pristine beaches of the East Coast. While in the East Coast, you will stay at a five-star hotel for an additional 5 days/4 nights. Relax by the warm Indian Ocean on a broad sandy beach. Arrival in Zanzibar (port/airport) directly transferred to the Zanzibar Serena Inn. Relaxing, Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 |
Stone Town Tour
After breakfast your local guide will take you on this famous tour of Stone Town (see Zanzibar Tours for details). The tour lasts 3-4 hours and will cover a number of historical sites. Expect to be on foot around town to explore the narrow streets and historical buildings, built in the 19th Century. Late afternoon return to Zanzibar Serena Inn. Relaxing, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 |
Spice Tour and Ruins Sites
After breakfast start the journey to spice farms and to the ruin sites with a picnic lunch in Kiungani(see Zanzibar Tours for details). This is a half day ( 4 hour guided tour) that starts at Kibweni Palace and ends in Kidichi. You will take a look at small traditional spice farms and the Kizimbani spice plantation. You will also visit Mbweni's Settlement ruins and and the Mangapwani slave caves. Relaxing, dinner and overnight at Zanzibar Serena Inn.

Day 4 |
Prison (Changuu) Island Tour
After breakfast, you will take this tour with a picnic lunch included to an off-shore island West of Stone Town. Prison Island (called "Bawe" or "Changuu" by locals) was used as a prison for misbehaving slaves in the 19th Century. It has a beautiful coral reef, ideal for snorkeling, and lovely white beach for sun-bathing. It takes 35 minutes with pre-arranged boat. Late afternoon return to Zanzibar Serena Inn. Relaxing, dinner and overnight.
