Selous Mbega Camp

Overview
Selous Mbega Camp
is s a new tented camp in a private forest on the Selous Game Reserve boundary; just outside the eastern Mtemere Gate on the banks of the Rufiji River. As you are staying outside the park you only pay National Park fees when entering on game drives; and this combined with the large rooms offers a cheaper safari option for visiting the Selous.

Accommodation
• There are eight large en-suite tents set among the foliage overlooking the river.

• Each tent has three beds and a large veranda offering pleasant though not game-filled views.

Facilities
• The bar and restaurant are simple but tastefully decorated. They are situated under a palm leave thatched roof around a Mahogany tree, facing the Rufiji River. There is also an additional sundown area and Bar.

• A viewing tower overlooks a seasonal waterhole.

Activities
• Like most lodges and camps in the Selous, the Camp offers a variety of safari options including vehicle and boat safaris within the Selous and walking safaris in the boundary forest reserve.

• Game viewing in 4wd vehicles, by foot on walking safaris and on the Rufiji River as a boat safari. Cultural trips to the local villages surrounding the Selous Game Reserve can also be arranged.

Dining
• A resident troop of black and white colobus monkeys frolic around the bar and dinner area. The international and African cuisine is delightful..

Selous Mbega Camp– Amani Tours View
If you are travelling in the Selous, we strongly recommend Selous Mbenga Camp, one of the more traditional camps in the game reserve. The relatively small price represents the cheapest tented camp/lodge option for visiting Selous and is basic but good value for your money. If you are willinng to forego comfort for value then Selous Mbenga Camp is the best option.
