Mikumi Wildlife Camp

Overview
Mikumi Wildlife Camp, which is also known as Kikoboga, is at the centre of
Mikumi National Park situated just 300 metres from the main east-west Tanzania highway. This is a very calm and natural place inside the national park. You can rent small stone-built African cottages in different sizes. The camp has commanding views across the Mkata Flood Plains and is within easy reach of some of the more interesting areas of the park including the hippo pools. Located right at the park gate, this is the oldest established camp in Mikumi currently operational. Panoramic views this camp has obviously become a second home for some of the elephants of the park. You are able to see giraffes, impalas, elephants and all kinds of birds. Imagine waking up and hearing an elephant chew on a tree right outside your window.

Accommodation
• The lodge has 12 very-comfortable, large stone and thatch bandas spread on a grassy field that is often frequented by impala, zebra and other antelope.

• The two family rooms have 2 rooms with the ability to sleep 6– offering good value for families and groups. .

• Every cottage has beds with mosquito nets, en suite toilet/shower and large shaded verandahs overlooking waterholes.

• The real bonus here is that every cottage has a ‘guest room’ attached which makes this an excellent choice for families.

Facilities
• Further on to the plains is a small sun deck around a swimming pool and an observation tower.

• The central dining rondavel is elevated and provides great views of the wildlife attracted to the camp’s waterholes. Best of all there is a euphemistically titled ‘cocktail bar’ in the camp.

Activities
• Game drives in Mikumi National Park in your own car or they can get you an autorized safari guide (illegal to go out there without one).

• The camp concentrates primarily on game drives however by special arrangement visitors can take a walking safari to the source of the Kikoboga River.

Dining
This hotel has its own restaurant, and serve all meals. Very good breakfast and dinner menus.
