Overview
Mbonya River Camp is located in the far north west of Ruaha National Park near the Mdonya Falls is this rustic tented camp. There are eleven safari tents all spaced along the banks of the Mdonya Sand River; ensuring privacy and great views. This small, relatively newly established camp, is an unpretentious camp which concentrates on the game viewing experience more than luxury Rather than aim at the luxurious market, Mdonya appeals to those wanting a real bush experience. With animals strolling through the camp, simple tents and lounge, no electricity and home cooked meals rather than nouvelle cuisine, all add to making you experience the African bush in its natural form.

Accommodation
• The 11 tents are simply decorated and have a mixture of twins and double beds all with private toilets and open-air showers attached at the back.

• The tents are basic but comfortable, each has its own shaded verandah, where you can witness game activity in the camp environments.

Facilities
• There are comfortable sitting areas, with a small library and interesting wildlife artefacts. There are hides at both ends of the camp, where you can sit and watch the game pass by all day long.

• The dining and lounge tents are under Acacias and Sycamore Figs overlooking the dry river bed, which is used by game as a corridor, so that guests can enjoy the game viewing even while having lunch or relaxing.

Activities
• Full and half day game drives in open sided vehicles and walking safaris can be organised with the camp management. The camp manager is a mine of information on animal behaviour.

• Enjoy, bird watching, photography, walking safaris, and game viewing from a vehicle (4 wheel drive).

Dining
• The camp has a distinct Italian influence in its cooking. Expect pasta, fresh salads, home-baked breads and plenty to go around. Many dishes ware cooked with lots of herbs and spices.

• The romantic candlelight dinners with the sound of crickets and the occasional hyena or lion, is unforgettable.

The camp is a well managed, functional camp located far from the main tourist areas, but due to its basic facilities, we only recommend it less comfort conscious tourists, who want a true African wildlife experience.
