Overview
Nkungwe Tented Camp is located between Kasiha and Sinsiba streams on a long stretch of Lake Tanganyika's golden sandy shores. The camp provides the needed comfort required after a day tracking chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains. The term 'Nkungwe' refers to the highest peak on the mountain range, and the camp is built to epitomize the magnificence of the whole park. The camp offers a relaxing evening at an open air dinner on the beach with open camp fire. Mahale is so pristine and remote that even after having been visited by famous personalities such as Bill Gates, its still remains away from the mainstream attention, which makes it even more attractive to visit.

Accommodation
• All tents are built on raised wooden platforms that enhance the view of Lake Tanganyika.

• The tents are made of heavy-duty canvas material that are well ventilated with zip down gauze windows and roll up flap tent doors.

• The tents are very spacious space, with locally manufactured African Safar décor that allows for splendid periods for rest and relaxation.

Facilities
• A large reception area situated on the beach is made out of local wood and thatched roof with a wooden deck raised above the ground is a relaxation hut that you are free to use at leisure.

• The building also accommodates the mess, a library, an information center, a curio shop, a bar as well as the lounge to the south of this building.

Activities
• The marque activity at Nkungwe is chimpanzee tracking. Other activities include fishing, snorkelling or just sitting back and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings.

Dining
• Meals at the camp are a delightful: breakfasts are English style with emphasis on local tropical fruits and juices. Lunches are usually light. Evening meals are three courses.

•Guests are also served traditional African dishes such as Coconut Banana Meat Stew and Cassava chips.
