Overview
Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a large elevated ridge of the Tarangire River just outside , overlooking the deep river valley and the vast plains. The lodge, old and in need of renovation, provides both tented and permanent accommodation. With all accommodation and the main building terrace overlooking the valley, wildlife can be viewed regularly. The view overlooks the Tarangire River and throughout most of the season you can see the wildlife below (especially elephants) grazing.
Accommodation
• The lodge consists of luxury tents and bungalows, all with a small veranda where you can sit, relax, admire the view, and watch the wildlife. The large canvas doors of the tents unzip to reveal the bedroom, where you find two comfortable single beds and a writing table and chair.
•
The en suite bathrooms have a solar-heated shower with hot water, flush toilet, and a dressing room. Electric lights and sockets are powered by a generator (220V).
• The Honeymoon Suite is situated near a ridge over the river and is furnished with a large double bed made of old dhow wood.
Facilities
•In front of the bungalow is a smaller thatched hut with folding safari chairs and a table, which serves as a veranda. It offers a great view down into the valley and makes the perfect spot to unwind after a day’s game viewing, and sip a sun-downer while you enjoy the view.
• There is a swimming pool here set to one side, with a water slide which is guaranteed to keep children happy for hours.
Activities
• The lodge offers game-viewing experience either by way of guided walking safaris or game-drives in open-sided safari vehicles.
Dining
• Food is uncomplicated, but good and there's plenty of it; superb barbeques in the evening with every kind of meat you can imagine and endless salads.
Tarangire Safari Lodge – Amani Tours View
The lodge is very old and looks a bit run down when you enter. We have featured it purely because of the spectacular view guests have from their rooms and from the main buildings. We recommend that if you are staying here, stay in one of the tents since the permanent accommodation is a lot more expensive. The staff is somewhat slow, but always friendly.
