Migration Camp
Migration Camp - Serengeti
Migration Camp - Serengeti

Overview
Migration Camp
is a permanent luxury lodge in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The lodge is located in the Northern Coridor of the park, on the main wildebeest migration route between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara, along the bank of the Grumeti River. It is raised up on the side of an impressive kopje known as Poacher's Lookout, with broad views north over the undulating Serengeti hills and beyond to the plains of the Maasai Mara. The migration seasons at camp are centred around July and November when the herds pass through the area, sometimes crossing the river right in front of camp. This old wooden-stilted camp has recently been taken over and upgraded by the Elewana luxury hotels group, who have refurbished the accommodation with chunky wooden furniture and wrought iron fittings.

Accommodation
• The camp has just 20 luxury safari tents, which are arranged in a pretty random fashion around the camp. Each of the tent has an ensuite bathroom. There is an onsite generator that provides electricity in the mornings and evenings.

• The honeymoon tent is located away from the other tents in a raised position on Poacher's Lookout. Migration Camp also has a family tent, which is made up of two standard tents, joined by a large shared bathroom, which accommodates a family of up to six people in comfort.

Facilities
• The main public areas comprise of a two level lounge and bar area. Adjacent to the lounge is the swimming pool, restaurant area and breakfast terrace.

• The old double-storey library and long, low-level dining area remain essentially unchanged, with excellent food being served with spectacular views.

Activities
• The lodge specialises in the annual wildebeest migration but also organised day wildlife watching and game driving safaris in Serengeti.

• Migration Camp is in an accessible location for balloon safaris across the Serengeti. Cultural activities include traditional dancing, and slide presentations by naturalists.

Dining
• The meals are served in the main restaurant, and are prepared in international and local flavors by professionally trained chefs.

• Migration Camp believes in serving food outdoors under the stars and sleeping under canvas, while listening to the sounds of the bush.

Migration Camp – Amani Tours View
Elewana luxury hotels group has recently upgraded the Migration Camp with new tents. It has gone from being a poor substitute to Klein's Camp to becoming a real competitor. It is fair to say that the views may be better at Klein's, but the service and feel of the Migration Camp is now relaxed and intimate. We recommend this choice for the great wildebeest migration in July and November.
