Overview
Tanzania Under Canvas have long been synonymous with the best lodges in both South Africa and Tanzania. This is a departure into new territory for them and is in following with the likes of Nomads and Sayari. Situated in the great plain, CCA is by far the most luxurious of the mobile safari options, with flush loos as en-suite and chandeliers in each tent, each camp site is chosen along the route of the migration and is never more than 30 minutes away from the action. The locations of these migratory camps are carefully plotted to coincide with the documented movements of the annual Great Migration as it traverses the Serengeti plains.
Having secured some of the Serengeti’s best semi-permanent campsites, CCA is able to bring guests as close as possible to the migration or resident game.
Accommodation
• This classically romantic Hemingway-style safari camp features spacious double tents, each with en-suite bathroom and unique en-suite al fresco shower (hot water delivered upon request).
Facilities
•
Each camp is organised into a main dining tent and lounge area, complete with books and antique furniture, a series of 4 tents, each with private views into the bush, and the staff quarters where the butlers and guides retire in the evening.
Activities
• The aim is to position the camps within comfortable driving distance of the migration during exciting daily safaris (early in the morning and again during the afternoon and early evening), or often for the full day.
Dining
• The food, as is the standard with the CCA properties, is very good and bush dinners amongst the calls of the wild, wonderful.
Tanzania Under Canvas – Amani Tours View
The massive herds move relatively slowly enabling to plan ahead and set up the luxurious camps in the best possible locations. The camps are well organised and each tent has been designed with cool and comfort in mind. With a bucket shower as standard this is still bush camping, but with the flamboyant extras that CCA seem to endow to all of their properties. The benefits of being located by the migration are obvious, the only drawbacks for us being the cost and the shared vehicles.
