Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Overview
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
is located in Lemala Hill on the eastern rim of Ngorongoro Crater in the volcanic highlands of Northern Tanzania. Opened in 1992, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is the only tourist development on the previously undisturbed Eastern access road to the crater. It Is a lavishly decorated, slightly older establishment and is one of the best of any of the lodges on the crater rim. The Maasai boma inspired buildings of the lodge hug the crater rim, linked by walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees.

• Each suite has a solarium with comfortable rocking chairs, the perfect place to relax. A small private lounge with writing desk provides extra privacy to each suite.

Facilities
• The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is based around an impressive glass-fronted central atrium that overlooks the swimming pool.

• There are also a lounge and the restaurant, vast, yet inviting, rooms focused around rageing fires, which, after a chilly evening drive, can be the perfect way to relax.

Activities
• The lodge arranges day wildlife watching and game driving safaris o the Ngorongoro Crater floor.

• Morning wildlife walks around the lodge and hiking adventures to Olduvai Gorge and Empakaai Crater in the nearby highlands.

• Visits to a selection of authentic Maasai villages, all of which belong to the national cultural tourism program and allow unique visits to Maasai homesteads.

Dining
• The restaurant has a good reputation and excellent atmosphere. The meals are served in the main restaurant and are prepared in international and local flavors by professionally trained chefs.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge – Amani Tours View
The lodge is a lovely hotel with good service, standards and ideal position on the crater rim. It has quite rightly gained a strong following, but is popular with larger groups. A large bonus in staying here is that for a couple of hours in the crater you will be on your own only with other Sopa clients, as opposed to the other side of the rim that shares the access road between 5 or 6 hotels.
