Overview
Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is perched on the jagged rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The lodge is built into the rim of the caldera, the plant and ivy-covered native stone blending masterfully with its surroundings. Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, wreathed in morning mist, is camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers. The lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below.

Accommodation
• The lodge has 75 rooms laid out on two levels in long lines along the crater rim, making it feel much bigger than the other Serena properties.

• The rooms, with ensuite bathrooms, are well decorated with hand-painted cave-type illustrations and styled throughout.

Facilities
• The Maasai inspired split-level dining and bar area feature a two-tier wall of windows looking down on to the constantly changing vistas of the crater.

Activities
• The lodge arranges day wildlife watching and game driving safaris o the Ngorongoro Crater floor.

• Morning wildlife walks around the lodge and hiking adventures to Olduvai Gorge and Empakaai Crater in the nearby highlands.

• Visits to a selection of authentic Maasai villages, all of which belong to the national cultural tourism program and allow unique visits to Maasai homesteads.

Dining
• The menu is both delicious and extensive, incorporating at least four courses including traditional Maasai fare, long-time safari favorites and internationally themed dishes.

• An open-air crater barbecue lunch by a hippo-filled pool on the Crater's floor is also available.
