Overview
A national monument, the Old Boma is a 100 year old fort located in Mikindani on the side of a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean. The Old Boma has been beautifully restored into a comfortable hotel with up to date facilities, whilst retaining its original features and charm. The hotel is run by a not-for-profit UK-based charity, which has arranged a number of effective community based projects including tree planting and farming schemes. Guests can visit the plantation and find out how the community project has positively affected the local people. The Old Boma – Amani Tours View
We highly recommend visiting Mikandani, a charming typical Swahili coastal fishing village, for a couple of nights so that you really soak up the atmosphere. The hotel is the perfect base for divers with a higher budget interested in Mnazi Bay - Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park.
