Overview
Serena Mountain Village Lodge is nestled in a coffee plantation on the edge of Lake Duluti in nearby Usa River. The lodge is a reliable choice for accommodation on the outskirts about 15 km from Arusha Town, Tanzania’s premier ‘Safari Centre’. Set in the flowered gardens of a coffee planter’s farm house and surrounded by rolling groves of wax-green coffee bushes, Mountain Village offers wide timbered decks with panoramic views over the lake. A network of pathways lead over tiny clear water streams to charismatic ethnically-styled semi-detached thatch bungalows, each with verandas and plenty of nets. The ‘Rondavel’ village-cluster rooms, each one is neatly thatched with ‘Makuti’ stems, lavishly embellished with ‘Makonde’ carvings and comfortably furnished in traditional safari style. Recently taken over by the Serena chain, standards have certainly improved and now the the wide-windowed dining room is stunning and the food is of the typical good Serena standard.

Accommodation
• The lodge has 38 Twin Rooms & 6 Superior Rooms. All rooms are well-proportioned and set in beautifully tended gardens across a steep escarpment, with views over the lake, Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.

• All rooms are charmingly appointed with spacious bathrooms, private balconies/verandas and curved French windows giving views onto the tranquil lakeside beauty.

• The rooms have been decorated in the traditional safari style and feature net-draped beds, soft lamps, intricately carved furniture and pastel-patterned drapes. All rooms have commanding views to Kilimanjaro on one side and Mount Meru on the other with Lake Duluti infront; the setting is fabulous.

Facilities
• The dining room overlooks the lake’s flower-fringed slopes and features an open-air bar area with a relaxed candlelit atmosphere

• The lodge also provides full medical back-up and emergency evacuation facilities.

Activities
• Guests can take nature walks or go bird watching around the flowered gardens. They can also explore Lake Duluti by canoe or follow the nature trail that loops around the lake and into the neighbouring coffee estates.

• Take a game drive at the near by Arusha National Park or take a tour of Cultural Heritage to purchase wood carvings and Tanzanite gemstones.

• The restaurant has menu choices that include traditional safari favourites and internationally themed menus and also features a children’s’ menus
